The Spice of Life achievement

This achievement requires the completion of 12 Variant Adventures.


Variant Adventures are different settings of an adventure with possible changed restrictions, objectives, requirements, and rewards. Once you complete a regular adventure the variants will unlock of varying difficulty. Also, if you are participating in events they have Variant Adventures which count towards this as well.


You should be able to complete any of the ones labeled in the green "Easy" difficulty. Also, the yellow "Fair" can be completed with a bit of difficulty. Anything other than that it will probably be too difficult.


Adventure Variants can involve reaching the same Area or higher, taking up slots in your formation, additional enemies spawning, etc. There are many different ones to look out for.

I was able to unlock this about a week after starting the game with a mix between some fairly active playing and idle time of only checking in once or twice a day. Basically, you will want to go as high an area as you can before it slows down. When you reset, this will increase your favor for the deity of the current campaign you are in.


This favor relates to gold find which will allow you accumulate more gold by the time you reach the same level the next time, thus pushing a little farther. You will have to repeat this many times to increase the areas until you reach 100. Eventually you will have to find the balance between keeping favor for gold find and putting it into blessings which increase other stats.


It is usually easier to push farther during events. You are able to accumulate more favor and the monsters are a little easier. Also, you may want to take advantage of any weekend buffs if you are having trouble with a certain boss stage.

The easiest way I have foundation to do this is have your familiar do the clicking for you. Even though it say manual clicks, allowing your familiar to auto click the enemies for you will count.


Save 1000 gems (should take ~3 adventures worth of gems) and purchase the first familiar. Set the familiar to click enemies in the familiar page and your done. It will take some time but now it doesn’t require anything more on your end.

since some champs have been updated, you will need to reach Minsc level 175 to unlock his Ultimate Attack. this should cost around 5Q in total (about 5e18).

This is a simple achievement that will just take a bit of time. I would generally just check the game once or twice a day after work or leave it run next to me while doing something else. I as able to get this in about a week and a half of slow progression.


If you just want to focus on reaching this quickly and are actively playing is keep resetting your free play runs and putting all your money into click damage until you can't progress, then repeat. This will help you increase your favor, thus increasing your gold find which you will need to reach the higher amounts of gold.

events begin approximately every 3 weeks. they last about 2 weeks, with a week in between. completing area 50 in the event adventure will unlock the champion. the first event for console will be Wintershield Year 2 and will include two unlockable champions.


you can also unlock event champions through Time Gates, which open for 72 hours, every three weeks (during the off-event week). you are offered 3 champions to unlock or earn gear for and there is a guarantee to have at least one you have not yet unlocked.


this works out to about 3 champs every month. locked champions are available for purchase with cash in the store if as well.

This isn't a solution on how you can get this achievement right now but more like a few little things you can do to speed it up


1. The Mad Wizard variant seems to have the fastest spawning of enemies in the game (specifically the first 30 areas)


2. Using speed pots (small/medium/large/huge potions of speed) will work and you can use 12 small 4 medium 1 large and 1 huge to have 1 hour of 10x game speed


3. A champion which speeds up game speed (Deekin) is LIVE in an event as of writing this

there is a 1 in 1000 chance to earn a shiny gear card from any chest opened. this includes normal silver and gold chests, as well as event and weekend chests.


you can also buy chest bundles that include a guaranteed shiny card (starting at $10 USD).

When youve completed 1 of the standard lvl 50 ones, a few new will appear (lvl 75, 100, 150 etc)...those are the ones that count.


Doesnt matter which area...or special event/ time gate. Just NOT the standard lvl 50.

you unlock the ability to purchase familiars after reaching area 66 in any adventure. the cheapest one costs 1000 only 250 gems. you can also purchase them with cash starting at $5 USD.

This total is for all accumulated gold, so you are free to upgrade your heroes. Playing a little bit and keeping your heroes upgraded well letting the game run should allow you to get this within the first day. It is a simple achievement that will come fairly quickly if you stick with the game.

note: the achievement will unlock after starting the next adventure, once the tutorial is complete.


the basic starting formation would be to use Nayeli as tank (on the right, towards the enemies), then put Bruenor in the second column. the spot below him will be where your main DPS comes from, and all other champions will be in place to apply buffs to that one. at first this may be Jarlaxle. you will want Calliope and Celeste to be behind him for their buffs. if you unlock Asharra, you can set her buff to elves and dwarves to make your DPS stronger.


if you find you cannot progress past a certain area, go back a little and kill enemies to earn gold (usually the areas just before bosses are the most efficient to farm). upgrade your DPS (you can hold left trigger to see who is doing the most damage), and purchase any buff upgrades that are affordable, and try again. using all your ultimate attacks at once, when all the enemies are stacked on your tank is a good way to clear a boss.


to complete the first tutorial adventure you only need to beat area 25, so it should not be very much trouble at all.

To unlock this specific achievement, you will need to have cumulatively earned 1e40 Gold across your adventures. If you are not using Scientific Notation, this will be about 10.0D - Big "D", for Duodecillion. You can somewhat check your progress in-game by going to the "Milestones" tab/menu, going to the "In-Progress" view, then looking at the gold milestone under "Clicks, Kills & Gold". When in range of this achievement, you should be working towards "Impressive Stash" for 99.9T (Tredecillion) gold. Lastly, it may or may not unlock while you are playing - I had to restart the game and load up before it went from 99% done to Achievement Unlocked.




Before going further, please note that Idle Champions is a game of multipliers upon multipliers, and gold-gaining is one of those many multipliers. When starting fresh, the monsters killed will give you a single gold piece each at area 1. This number increases based on various factors:
1) The area you currently are in
2) The amount of unspent Divine Favor you have banked for the god of a region (each Divine Favor increases Gold Find by 1%)
3) Any bonus multipliers by champions currently in your formation, their skills, and equipment
4) Any Blessings you have unlocked that affect gold drops
5) Any potions you have active


#1 and #2 are the largest factors in getting to the point you can even get near the level of gold required for the achievements. #3 is somewhat useful, especially earlier on, but eventually you'll want to focus on damage boosts to let you get to a farther area, which could outpace whatever +gold % you would have earned on an earlier area. Also, the "Grand Tour" area only gives you space for 9 champions, which limits any multipliers for added damage potential. With "Tomb of Annihilation" or "Waterdeep", you get 10 spots which allows additional multipliers to boost your DPS champion.




You will eventually hit a 'wall' where the enemies' HP jumps up by 2x, then 4x, then massively more than you can output. It takes longer to buy enough levels on a hero to unlock the next upgrade to manage against their increased life, preventing you from getting to higher areas and slowing down your kill rate (which means less gold earned). You will then need to do a reset by
"Completing Your Adventure", which grants you banked Divine Favor. 1 Favor is +1%, so 100 favor will double your base gold, and 1000 favor will increase your gold by a factor of 10x.


While resetting may seem painful, that Divine Favor is important, so get used to it. That 10x factor means you get a lot more gold early on, unlocking champions earlier and unlocking their upgrades sooner. If you can now afford 3 new upgrades, each giving your group +100% damage, you will actually do 8x the damage, which can let you get just a bit further to a higher area, earn gold more swiftly (a factor of 10x in this example), and earn more Divine Favor. Keep repeating, and you can push to higher amounts.


Additionally, whenever a Event or a Time Gate ends, you will be forced to convert the Divine Favor of those alternative Gods into Favor for the main areas. This favor is converted to a percentage of your current Favor for a main god - for example, if you had 1B Torm favor versus 100M Kelemvor favor, and you converted a good Event run, you could choose 800M Torm or 80M Kelemvor. If you did Kelemvor runs before event closure and got it up to 500M Kelemvor, the event would then convert to 400M Kelemvor favor, a gain of +320M on top of the 400M you worked for.




As a general example of where you may be to earn this achievement: After on-and-off grinding Events and unlocking characters, I worked on the "Tomb of Annihilation" quest lines and earned about 5 billion "Kelemvor" favor. Under the first Tier of Blessings for Kelemvor is "Golden Riches", which offers +200% goldfind. I ended up using Paultin (Event L4) in place of Jarlaxle because I was also using Strix (Event L11) and Nerys (Event L12) to help boost Strix as my core DPS (and then boost Nerys' Spiritual Weapon). At this point, I was able to reach around Area 265-270, and I was earning about 1U to 6U a kill. After letting it play for a while at this area, I slowly was earning % to the 10.0D I needed, so I just let it run and farmed the gold for this achievement. Enough that I got about 50B Divine Favor, around 10x what I previously had banked, once I finally reset my run. You may want more Favor - at 50B, Area 265 could be giving about 10U instead of just 1U, or you could farm at a lower area 260 which might be around 1U at that point.




Note that, there was a big balancing patch (The Base 12) that acted as a nerf for a few characters (Tyril especially) while becoming a major boost for others (Jarlaxle becomes both DPS and a greater gold-booster). This has changed the 'Meta' of the game as to which characters are 'OP' or not. This also means that there may be changes later, particularly for secondary characters (from events and from missions) which could also effect your general gameplay, whether for this achievement or for another.

Not as a guide but as reference: You'll be able to beat Area 250 when your Static DPS is around ~5E79. I did reach area 250 several times in the past with DPS E72 or E77... but it was yesterday when I got there with 5E79 when I finally surpassed it.
Like I said, it is not a guide, but I'll help you to keep yours expectations checked

As you progress this far in the game you should have a pretty good idea what ones you can complete. For example, if you can reach Area 200 in free play there is a good change you will be able to complete the Variant that requires reaching area 150 (depending on the modifiers).


I would recommend trying to complete all the Variants during the events as they are generally a bit easier. If you are having trouble completing a particular variant you may need to unlock more heroes ,take advantage of a weekend buff, or use some potions.

Hey everyone, just a quick video showing the best free-play to grind for the 250 freeplays, 1,000 crow kills, and a great way to farm gems in this game. It only takes about 15-20 minutes per run. Use the Mad Wizard free-play and just set your familiar to player attack, then only level you player attack. Reset once you can't one shot everything, and repeat! Hope this helps!

Building on the technique and video that Gunflame shared in their guide, the grind for free plays has been made even easier by taking advantage of the new Modron Automation, added to the Xbox version in July 2020.


Once you have unlocked at least two champions per bench slot through events, evergreen champions, and time gates, you can start the "Split the Party" quest. After completing that one-time quest, it unlocks the Modron core options for you to enable on your parties. You need to configure the Modron pipe mini-game such that it flows through the automation tube (it will make more sense once you unlock it) and then you can set the core to autoplay the free plays for you. You must have accrued enough favor within whatever campaign you're running free play on and have a minimum of two familiars unlocked as it will use one to do click damage and the other familiar to level up your click damage as you collect gold. Then you simply set it to restart once it beats level 50 (the minimum level for completing a Free Play) and rinse and repeat. Without even having to touch my console at all, it's completing one free play roughly every hour. It runs a bit slower in offline mode as it doesn't collect gold as quickly, so you can leave your Xbox on and just let it idle complete (it is an idle game after all). This way, you don't need to pop on to your Xbox to keep it cycling to the next free play run as it does it for you.


EDIT: While the Modron Automation works even if the game is offline, it appears that for Xbox to track it correctly, the game must be online with your system on. You'll still complete this faster than without Automation as this can keep launching new Free Play runs throughout the night as long as your system stays on. Also, the game doesn't care if your controller is plugged in or on once it is running; it will still make progress without logging you out.


Note: You will need to launch the game and open the Modron Core interface at least once a week to keep the automation running. They don't want players running it run forever offline. However, you likely will get your 250 Free Play runs completed within 2 weeks, if not much sooner.

Gather 10B favor with Torm

Also, when events happen, it is a good idea to focus on them, because at the end of the event you can convert all the event favor to any favor of your choice, such as Torm. These events, and to a lesser extent time gates, provide huge boosts to your favor totals.

I got this accidentally. I was at area 99, almost ready to reset, and I decided to use a 5 min Firebreath Potion. I killed everything on area 100 right away.

the first Free Play is unlocked after completing any of the main adventures that appear after the two tutorials. you must beat AREA 50 before resetting for it to count as a "completion". you could manually grind out this goal by resetting at 51 each time, or just let it come through natural progression. one of the most beneficial ways to progress through this game is by repeatedly resetting Free Plays, either earning favor, gems, or both. so you will very likely earn this along the way to earning other ones.
